World Environment Badge
Posted in: Group | October 23, 2008
At the start of this year, 3rd Croydon had the honour of being one of only a handful of scout groups in the world to test the programme for the new World Scout Environment Badge. As Scouts we want to learn to take care of our world, so being part of this was a big thing for us. It was hard work, as we only had a short time to get through all the work involved, but it was a valuable experience for us, as well as helping to fine tune the plans that have become part of a worldwide Scout environment programme.
As part of the testing, many of our members in several sections earned their World Scout Environment Badge. When we were doing the testing the final badge hadn’t even been designed yet, so many members from Joeys to Rovers were excited this week when we finally received our actual badges.

I’m sure they’ll be sewn on to everyone’s uniform for next week!
A special thankyou to Gordon Young for helping us to be a part of this special project, Gordon is one of our Rovers, and also Scouting Australia’s National Adviser for the Environment.
